Here's mud in your eye....

First things first.   I am not sure what this is going to turn into eventually.. Right now it is just going to be a place for my meandering thoughts on food and foodie related things.

Why Dirty Potatoes?


I think it best reflects my sensibilites when it comes to foodie type things.  I am not overly impressed by things like foie gras or filet mignon(I will get back to this later..I have a whole blog post just on my thoughts on this :P)   What really ends up getting me excited is  everyday ingredients that are at their best , even down to what is one of the lowliest ingredients in the kitchen..   The potato.  .  I have no use for pre-washed potatoes .  I will  and have gone out of my way to buy dirty potatoes . They store longer, have better texture , and just plain taste better. The second a pototo is washed it starts to go downhill qualitywise.


So  here is the start  of a journey into my wierd little idiosycrasies when it comes to how I think things should be done in the kitchen and what actually  constitutes good food.
